There are many health benefits of Acai berry. For a start, the Acai berry contains several compounds called anthocyanins and flavonoids.
Foods that are rich in anthocyanins - such as blueberries, red grapes, red wine, and the acai berry - are very powerful antioxidants that help defend the body against free radicals. Free radicals are harmful to the body. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants may reduce the aging and disease process by neutralizing free radicals.
Studies hace shown that by lessening the destructive power of free radicals, antioxidants may help reduce the risk of some diseases, such as heart disease and cancer. And as the acai berry is rich in antioxidants, the health benefits of acai berry are obvious.
Some recent studies have shown that the acai berry has higher antioxidant capacity than cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, or blueberry.
Because the western world has only just discovered the acai berry, studies are relatively new and so far the health benefits of acai berries are very similar to that of other powerful fruits.
And although, acai is promoted in some weight loss products, few scientific studies have tested the health benefits of acai in promoting weight loss.
As it stands, plenty of research supports eating a diet rich in antioxidants. There is no doubt that the acai berry is packed with them. As for some of the other extravagent claims about the acai berry, well, the jury is still out.
